Our friends from the Woodlands Chapter of the HBS Club have invited our club members to join them on Thursday, March 10, 2016 to meet Joseph (Joe) W. Sutton, Founder and CEO of Sutton Ventures Group.   HBS alumni Aziz Jamaluddin is graciously hosting this evening event at his beautiful home in The Woodlands.  You will enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres, wine and beer and a fascinating presentation by Joe Sutton.

Joe will discuss 'character" and how the absence of this multi-defined term has impacted business, sports, and our lives in general.  He will offer his views and hopefully spur discussion using many examples he has witnessed in his life, in the military, business and sports. BIOGRAPHY

Joseph Sutton's biography

Joseph (Joe) W. Sutton is the founder and CEO of Sutton Ventures Group (SVG) headquartered in Houston, Texas. SVG through its many affiliates is actively involved as an owner, manager, operator, and developer in many energy related businesses. The SVG team has been successful in many facets of the energy business.

Although a great deal of his experience is in natural-gas fired electricity generation, he has been involved in founding and growing several midstream businesses as well. Mr. Sutton helped form Highpoint Energy Partners and its affiliate Highpoint Infrastructure Partners and Highpoint Gas Gathering. Both recently merged with American Midstream. He also helped form Badger Midstream, another gathering and processing midstream company where he serves as Chairman of the Board, and he was a founder of Millennium Midstream Energy which was sold in 2010.

He is also the founder of Consolidated Asset Management Services (CAMS) and serves as the CEO. The company provides asset management and operation and maintenance services for power plants, midstream businesses, and is active in the oil and gas exploration and production sector. In addition to these base businesses, CAMS affiliates include Bluewire Technology, CAMS Trident Pipeline Services, and S&S Salvage and Deconstruction.

Prior to forming SVG, Mr. Sutton was Vice Chairman of Enron Corp. He is credited with helping to form Enron's international business where he was CEO. During his tenure at Enron he was responsible for developing and managing an international energy portfolio of more than $7 billion in assets.

Before joining Enron, Mr. Sutton was a career officer in the U.S. Army and retired at the rank of Colonel. During his time in the Army he held numerous command assignments in armor and aviation, served two tours of duty in the Pentagon and was an Army Ranger.

He recently published a children’s book, Wanda and the Oblahlahs, and has donated the proceeds from the book to “Children at Risk” focused on fighting child trafficking.

Mr. Sutton holds B.B.A., M.S. and M.B.A. degrees from Ohio, Indiana and Long Island Universities. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Ameresco, traded on the NYSE, where he is lead Director and serves on the Audit Committee and is Chairman of the Compensation Committee. He also serves on the Board of Directors of American Midstream also traded on the NYSE. He currently serves on many not for profit Boards of Directors. Mr. Sutton is also a Limited Partner in the Houston Texans NFL team and owner and operator of Blackhorse Farm and is an active owner of thoroughbred race horses.
